Update

Welcome to the month of February, where the days get brighter and hopefully the weather gets warmer too! February 1st is the last day of Quarter 2 which means half the school year is complete. Here are some highlights from the first month of 2021!

 

 

 

 

In the pictures above you see a few examples of Learning by Doing. The image on the left is from Ms. Hill’s Science 10 class where students where learning about energy transformations using a catapult they designed. Students then had the opportunity to launch marshmallows outside to test the effectiveness of their design. In the centre image are examples of Biology 12 students dissecting sheep hearts. The image on the right are students in our Fitness and Conditioning 11/12 class working on their core strength by doing planks.

Black Shirt Day – January 15

Westview staff and students participated in the first annual Black Shirt day. A number of students took part in posting signage and educational posters throughout the school.

 

Pink Shirt (Anti-Bullying) Day – February 24th

Westview leadership students have been working hard to prepare for a month of activities leading to the provincial Pink Shirt Day on February 24th. Anti-Bullying Day is a day when people wear mainly a pink shirt to symbolize a stand against bullying, an idea that originated in Canada and Westview proudly participates in.

Tuesday, February 2nd – Quarter Turnaround – students in by appointment only Wednesday, February 3rd – Quarter Turnaround – students in by appointment only Thursday, February 4th – First Day of Quarter 3 (ALL students attend)

Monday, February 8th – Report Card #2 LIVE and viewable online

Monday, February 15th – BC Family Day – Stat Holiday

Tuesday, February 16th – Non-Instructional Day (No school for students)

Monday, February 22nd – PAC Zoom Meeting at 7:00pm

Wednesday, February 24th – Pink Shirt Day (anti-bullying)
