Weekly Summary
Awards from the 2019-2020 school year were handed out this past week. 75 students in Grades 9-12 received awards for excellence in subject areas. In addition, there were Junior and Senior Awards handed out for Top Service Award, Top Leadership Award, and Top Subject Area Awards. Congratulations to all of our Awards Winners!!
This is a short week for students with Friday, October 23rd a Provincial Non-Instructional Day. Teachers will be attending workshops and conferences. Students do not attend school.
The end of Quarter 1 is approaching with the last day of instruction November 17th. If you have questions regarding academic progress, on our school website is a staff directory for you to contact a teacher by email. This year there will not be our typical student conferences but we will publish four report cards, one after each quarter.

Staff & Program Profile: The Career Centre (Website)
The Career Centre provides many resources and services for students including placement of students in work experience setting, overseeing scholarship applications, providing resources for post-secondary institutions, coordinating “Take Our Kids To Work” day, organizing Post Secondary visits, assisting with preparation of resumes and covering letters for employment, career guidance and career related field trips.
Leah McCardle (Email) manages our Career Centre. She is a great support for students in interested in post-secondary information, volunteer opportunities in our community and for scholarship information. Leah is at Westview every Monday and Wednesday. The Career Centre is located by the courtyard across from room 1066.
News from the Career Centre for grade 11 & 12 students:
Attention Grade 11 & 12 students and parents – Post Secondary Day will be held virtually this year on Monday, November 2 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm and Tuesday, November 3 from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm. 29 post-secondary institutions will be participating in this virtual fair by creating a ‘booth’ that will be open to both students and parents.
