Week 4 Summary – Hoping you all enjoyed the Thanksgiving long weekend – a nice meal, time with family and friends, a colourful Fall walk or whatever else allows you and your family to rest, enjoy & re-charge!

As we are approaching the mid-way point of October, it is important to emphasize in a Quarter System we are almost half way through the first two courses this year. The last day of quarter 1 classes is November 17th. Each class is almost 1-week in a typical school year where courses run September to June. If you have concerns or questions about your child’s progress, you can email the teacher directly to receive that information. This ​LINK​ will take you to our website staff directory. There will be a report after each quarter, with the first one being live November 23rd. Students will also receive a paper record card after each quarter as well.

This week we will celebrate last year’s academic excellence with a grade 9/10 luncheon on Wednesday and a grade 11/12 luncheon on Thursday. Students were presented with an invite for this event. The recognition is based on the school class marks for last year’s final report card. Congratulations to all of the 70+ students who will be joining us in this celebration of academic excellence in the library. We are proud of your commitment to academic excellence.

Food Service & Cafeteria Cafeteria Lunch Cards are available for purchase in the Cafeteria in denominations of $10 and $20. You may also make payment on the portal and the student can pick up their cards the next day at lunch in the Cafeteria. To purchase more cards, students can pay for one in the Cafeteria or please contact the Account Clerk @ 604-467-3481 to pay through the portal.  This week’s menu:

Staff & Program Profile: Krystyna Doran-Eddy (Teacher Librarian) The Library Learning Commons at Westview is known as “The Den” – in part because of the connection to the Wildcats, and in part because of the connection to calm places of refuge in a home! The Teacher Librarian at Westview is Ms. Eddy, and she is joined this year by Ms. Diana Orologio and Mrs. Linda Jensen. Students are always welcome in The Den during open blocks and before and after school; if the door is open, come on in! In The Den, students can find answers to questions on a ton of topics, such as: the best new books to read, how to find and cite resources for projects, WIFI, Google Classroom, general information about WSS, etc. Laptop check-outs are more strict this year; however, book check-outs are back to business as usual so come by anytime to find a read that’s ​paw ​ fect for you.
