Quarter Two & Report Card #1 Information
As a school, we are very appreciative of how responsive students have been during Quarter 1 to all the new health and safety expectations at Westview. This collective cooperation from students and staff with the stage 2 safety protocols has allowed our school community a continued focus on student learning, well-being and achievement.
As a school, we continue to work within the Ministry of Education and Provincial Health Office stage 2 operational guidelines for the COVID-19 provincial education plan. Safety protocols such as defined student cohorts, the mandatory use of masks in high traffic areas or outside cohort groupings, hand sanitizer, enhanced daily cleaning and disinfection protocols, blended instructional time, designated entrances and regulated indoor pedestrian traffic flow continue to be in place to maximize the face-to-face instructional time in each class for students. As provincial COVID numbers continue to be high, we will continue to encourage all members of the Westview community to wear masks at all times while they are in the building.
All students will begin Quarter 2 with a Health & Safety refresher presentation. This presentation will be presented in their morning class, Friday, Nov. 20th. A copy of the presentation is below for you to view.

We want to thank families for their continued commitment to completing the Daily Health Assessment to determine if a student should attend school. As a reminder, students who show any symptoms of illness should stay home and, depending on symptoms, seek a health assessment. Please see the attached Daily Health Assessment checklist for more details about wellness expectations.
At this time, we are unable to have visitors into our school. Please contact the office if you have an inquiry or require a meeting at school. The office (604) 467-3481. All visitors are required to contact the office and make arrangements to visit the school. Upon arrival, visitors are required to have completed the Daily Health Assessment and sign into and leave a phone number for follow up if required.
Report Card Information
The province is in the final year of a transition to standards-based reporting for grades 8 & 9. The majority of our grade 8 & 9 teachers are using the standards-based report card which assesses students learning on a proficiency scale (Emerging, Developing, Proficient, Exceeding). In some cases, students will have a class using both the standards-based report card and a report card that assesses using the typical mark scale (A, B, C+, C, C-, I).
For this reason, it’s essential for parents of grade 8 and 9 students know that they need to open both pdfs to receive digital copies of their report cards.
These standards-based report cards all have comments on them. The comments are the most important aspect of the standards-based report card. The standards-based report card will also have an explanation for the abbreviations of the proficiency scale.
Monday, November 23rd – Reports Cards will be available to view online at 1:00pm via MyClass. If you need additional information to access your online report card, please contact Anne_Hibbeln@sd42.ca
Tuesday, November 24rd – ALL students will receive a hard copy of the Quarter 1 report card in their C block class.
