Westview Secondary School
NEWSLETTER #10
Oct. 26th, 2020

Weekly Summary
This past week students had the opportunity to participate in Student Vote BC where they were able to vote for candidates in the upcoming provincial election. The vote was preceded by some discussions in class about political parties, current issues and platforms as well as how our BC parliamentary democracy works. Our grade 8 English classes participated in a 2 Sentence Horror Story Writing Contest as well as a LINK Crew Pumpkin Painting event.

This week our Leadership Students have planned a Spirit Week that culminates in a Halloween costume day on Friday. We encourage students to participate in the fun activities below:

Spirit Week
● Monday – PJ Day
● Tuesday – Twin Day
● Wednesday – Plaid Day
● Thursday – Blackout Day
● Friday – Costumes

The end of Quarter 1 is approaching with the last day of instruction November 17th. If you have questions regarding academic progress, on our school website is a staff directory for you to contact a teacher by email. This year there will not be our typical student conferences but we will publish four report cards, one after each quarter.

The following list of Counsellors and Administrators and their grades are listed below:

This year, she will teach Foods 10, Yoga 11/12, Recreation PE for Grades 10-12 and is also one of our Link Teachers. After school you will often find Heather in the gym sponsoring our Volleyball teams, and is currently running open gyms on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3-4:30. Heather loves the outdoors, having just completed coursework in Outdoor Education through Camosun College on Vancouver Island. She has run many outdoor activities in the past, including snow shoeing, hikes, canoeing and other field trips! In the spring, Coach Mac sponsors the Westview Golf Team. If you are wanting to get involved in any of these activities, please reach out and connect with her at Heather_Macdonald@sd42.ca.
