Gr. 8 Link Crew Info (Aug. 30th)

Hello Grade 8 Parents! 

 

We are very excited that your child will be attending Westview Secondary, and we look forward to seeing them at our Grade 8 Orientation Day on Tuesday, September 7th at 11:30am-3:30pm in the Main Gym at Westview. Our hope is that students are here for the full day until 3:30pm to ensure that they receive all the back to school information and build strong connections for a successful start to their high school experience!

Our Link Crew Program will help get your 8th grader off to a great start!  

WHAT IS LINK CREW? 

Link Crew is a multi-national program designed to welcome and support 8th graders by connecting them with Link Leaders, who are positive, responsible, hand-selected grade 11 and 12 students. Your student’s Link Leaders will help them feel more comfortable as well as help them achieve success in their first year of high school. Doesn’t that sound great? It is! 

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? 

1. A day or two before orientation, your child will receive a phone call from their Link Crew Leader personally inviting them to orientation day and giving the details of where to be and what time. The Leaders can also answer any questions they may have. 
2. Your student is encouraged not to bring backpacks, purses or other like items as the day is quite active.  A light snack and drink will be provided.
3. Because the day is active, please make sure that your student wears comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement as well as brings a face mask for themselves.
4. Cell phone use is forbidden on this day. This is a student only function so we encourage you to let your child attend on their own.
