Westview is proud to be a Nike sponsored school for our Soccer Academy. All our academy players will exclusively wear Nike gear & uniforms. We know this partnership with a global brand will benefit our student-athletes in the Soccer & Basketball Academies.

The Soccer Academy at Westview is designed to develop the individual skills of the participants and give them an appreciation of teamwork in the game of soccer. The program will serve both Westview students AND students at other high schools in the district who choose to cross-enroll from their home school in order to participate in this specialty program. The program has a strong commitment to excellence in student achievement and is fully integrated into the regular school timetable.

The Soccer Academy at Westview will provide unique soccer specific courses. These courses will have in-class and on-field instruction. In the classroom, students will receive instruction in fitness, nutrition, strength training, sport philosophy, goal setting, time-management, leadership skills, coaching philosophies and laws and history of the game. The on-field sessions will focus primarily on individual skill development as well as principles of attacking and defending, positional responsibilities, systems of play, restarts and set-plays. In short, we address the Technical, Physical, Tactical and Psycho-Social aspects of the game.

Academy Course structure:

Grade 8 Health and Career 8/9 ( “Soccer” theme)
Grade 9 Advanced Soccer 10
Grade 10 Advanced Soccer 11
Grade 11 Soccer Principles 12

Fee: $850

Includes:

Soccer NIKE Kit: shorts, shirt, socks, track pants/jacket
Qualified Soccer Instruction/Coaching (200+ hours for the year)
- Dennis Schmidt – MEd, BPE, B.Ed, Provincial B Coaching
  - Founder & Sporting Director of Westview Soccer Academy (16+ years)
  - Teacher at Westview Secondary and Technical Director/Head Coach of the Westview Soccer Academy

REGISTRATION PROCESS:

New Applications: Must be submitted by June 2, 2025. This does not guarantee you a spot. You will be contacted if you have been accepted.
Late Registrations & Deposit: Must be submitted by Sept 30, 2025
Existing Soccer Academy Students: If your child has chosen Soccer Academy through their course selection that happens in May every year, they will automatically be enrolled in the Academy. ONLY IF THEY WERE CURRENTLY IN THE ACADEMY. This does not include new students coming into Westview. They must have already been accepted into the Academy and have played.

REGISTRATION is only open from April 1, 2025 – May 31, 2025. Your application MUST BE submitted by then. Payment & deposit information required is below.

Deposits ($300) for Existing and New Registrations to be made no later than June 15th, 2025

REMAINING PAYMENTS FOR NEW & EXISTING REGISTRATIONS:

2 postdated cheques for $275.00 each, dated September 15 and October 14, 2025 must be dropped off or mailed to Westview Secondary by Sept 5th, 2025

LATE REGISTRATIONS:

Deposits ($300) for Late Registrations to be made no later than September 30, 2025

REMAINING PAYMENTS FOR LATE REGISTRATIONS:

2 postdated cheques for $275.00 each, dated October 14, 2025 and November 14, 2025 must be dropped off or mailed to Westview Secondary by Sept 30th, 2025
