TODAY:

  2. Our Senior Boys’ Basketball team plays GW Graham here tonight at 6:30 pm
  3. The Key Club meets today at lunch in Mrs. Godfrey’s classroom (room 2137)

 

The Textiles room will be open on Wednesday, February 4th from 3:00 – 4:30 for Textiles students to work on projects.  If you bring snacks to share, please make sure that they do not contain nuts.

 

Any male students in grade 10,11 or 12 who are interested in obtaining Peer Tutoring hours working at Webster’s Corners Elementary should see Mr. von Matt this week. The placement involves spending class time in a grade 5-6 class at Webster’s Corners during the school week.

 

Winter Formal – February 19th: tickets will be on sale this week! This year’s theme is the Great Gatsby. You can request songs you’d like to hear played at the Winter Formal by placing your submissions into the Song Request Box in the rotunda. All songs must be school appropriate.

 

Intramural Badminton

Senior tournament – A few date changes have been made.  Please check the schedule.

Grade 9 & 10 Tournament – Your schedule will be posted by the end of the week.  You will not start until after the senior tournament is over.

 

Course planning for next year

The assemblies are as follows:

Grade 9: February 23rd Y block in Rotunda

Grade 10: February 16th Y block in Rotunda

 

Applied Skills Rotation: Just a reminder that the first class for block A is today, February 3rd. The last class for block H is also today, February 3rd, and the new class begins on February 5th. The rotation follows the layout on page 180 in the student planner.

The Art Institute of Vancouver is holding an event this Saturday, February 7th called AI Afterdark.  This fun event is geared towards high school students and it is a chance for them to come to the school and to a hands-on workshop in the following areas: Fashion, Graphic/ Web Design, Audio/ Film, Photography, Culinary, Animation/ Game Design, or Interior Design.  If students would like to attend, they can RSVP to www.Aiafterdark.com.

The Art Institute of Vancouver’s SWEAT Program will be taking place March 19 – 22.  This is a great opportunity for students to fulfill their work experience credit while exploring a creative career option.  The application can be found at www.aivsweat.com and is due March 1.  This program is open to students in Grade 11 and 12.  Please let your students know that they will need to print out the application and mail it to AIV: AIV – SWEAT Application 2665 Renfrew Street, Vancouver, BC V5M 0A7

 

The Art Institute will also be hosting its Annual Grad Fashion Show on March 24, 2015.  The event titled FTHREE3 will incorporate Fashion, Food, and Film.  It will be held at the Art Institute of Vancouver’s campus at 2665 Renfrew Street.  There is an afternoon show for High School students and it includes a Fashion Workshop.  There are a number of complementary tickets for the show.  If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to Elaina Mauro at emauro@aii.edu.   Please put in the subject line Fashion Show RSVP.

For the past few years, the Art Institute has been hosting an Art Educator’s Appreciation Show.  The goal of this event is to showcase the talent of High School teachers.  If you have work you would like to show please visit http://whatteacherscreate.com/vancouver.  A reception will be held for the showing on April 23, 2015 at 6:30pm.

Attention all grads!! If you are interested in helping plan your grad dinner dance please attend a meeting Tuesday, Feb. 10 at lunch in room 2146.

 

GRAD FEES are available to be paid on the parent portal.

Cap & Gown $50.00, Dinner / Dance $60.00 per ticket (you can purchase 2 if you are bringing a guest), Dry Grad $30.00 per ticket (you can purchase 2 if you are bringing a guest). Parents will be welcome to attend early at Meadow Gardens for photos, but the Dinner / Dance is for students and one guest only (not parents).

  • February 24: Trades & Academies Nightfrom 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Thomas Haney Secondary. This is a great opportunity to see what trades are out there. There will be breakout sessions, displays and an opportunity to converse with instructors of these programs.
