PE Dance Unit Theme Days
- Tuesday, Dec 16 – Big Belt Buckle Day
- Wednesday, Dec 17 – Vancouver Canuck Day (Game day vs Dallas Stars)
- Thursday, Dec 18 – Santa / Christmas Hat Day (THSS has a no hat rule, so hats should only be worn in the main gym)
- Friday, Dec 20 – Country Attire (no cowboy boots)
Each day that you dress for your class in theme, you will get one bonus % added to your fitness learning guide (LG #5). As usual, attendance will be taken at the start of class. Bonus %s will only be counted at the start of class.
Attention all students in grades 9-12: Breaking Down the Walls is coming to THSS from January 12-15. If you are in grades 9-12, you can apply to be a participant by asking your TA to nominate you, or by filling out the form in the office and returning it to Mr. Frend. If you are in grades 11/12 and interested in being a Breaking Down the Walls leader, please pick up a form from the office, fill it out, and return to Mr. Frend.
Winter Wonderland is back at Pitt Meadows Arena. Volunteers are needed for set up Sunday, December 21st from 6:30pm on, and to help run the events on Monday, December 22 and Tuesday, December 23 from 8am to 5pm. There are many on and off ice duties. Please see Mrs. Domitruk or Mr. Wiens in the Career Centre for more information.
LOST AND FOUND ITEMS:
All items from the Lost & Found bin are now on display on the tables in front of the school office. Students are encouraged to come by for a final opportunity to claim any lost items before Thursday, December 18th. Unclaimed items will be donated to a charitable organization the following day.
PE Student Aides and Intramural Leadership
Our annual Christmas lunch will take place on Friday, Dec 19 in the Suddaby Room at lunch.
If you will be at school and you would like to attend, you need to put your name on the signup sheet located in the girls’ change room hallway by Wednesday, Dec 17 at noon. We need you to sign up so we know how much pizza to order.
Intramural Badminton
Rules and signup sheets have been posted. Signup must happen prior to Christmas Break, but the tournament will happen in the new year. There will be three tournaments. See the intramural board for more details.
Are you interested in writing children’s stories? If so, please join the Writing 12 students tomorrow morning, Wednesday, December 17th as we venture over to Harry Hooge to read original Christmas stories! We’ll be reading our stories to students in Kindergarten. See Ms. Ferguson to sign up!

THSS CLOTHING ON SALE
There are two new THSS logos for clothing, which will be on sale from November 18 – January 16. Samples to try on for sizing will be available at lunch outside of the Rotunda. Pictures and order forms will be located on the board next to the Intramural board (outside the rotunda). There will be t-shirts, long sleeves, hoodies, crewnecks, and sweat pants available. All details and prices will be on the order forms.
CBC Vancouver Junior DJ School: Ever wonder how a story makes it onto TV or radio? Or how social media and digital channels are changing the face of journalism for reporters? This one day camp is for grade 10, 11 and 12 students who have what it takes to report from the front lines? Date is January 10th from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre. GRAD INFO
GRAD FEES are available to be paid on the parent portal.
Cap & Gown $50.00, Dinner / Dance $60.00 per ticket (you can purchase 2 if you are bringing a guest), Dry Grad $30.00 per ticket (you can purchase 2 if you are bringing a guest). Parents will be welcome to attend early at Meadow Gardens for photos, but the Dinner / Dance is for students and one guest only (not parents).
THSS GRAD PHOTOS: If you haven’t already booked your grad portraits, please go to www.mountainwest.ca/ and book your appointment online. There are still appointments available on January 13 and 14.
Grad Parent Tributes: Each year, Grad parents are invited to prepare a tribute to their child, which is published in the yearbook along with a baby photo. The parent tribute fee is available as of December 1, 2014 on line for payment ($30). Or you can pay Mrs. Shamro in the office. Please submit your parent tribute to Mr. Crawford before January 16, 2015. Tributes should be 300 characters (including spaces) to THSSgrad2014@gmail.com. The photo must be scanned at highest resolution (300 dpi) and sent using same email address. This will be published in the 2014-2015 yearbook. Mr. Crawford requires two photos – one baby photo and one toddler photo.
