CAFÉ MENU

Thursday- Clubhouse Sandwich soup – Corn/Prawn Chowder

Soccer

All boys interested in playing soccer this year, tryouts are today. Meet on the field by 3pm. There will be two teams this year

(gr 8/9 and gr 10-12)

 

Volleyball

Gr. 8 girls         TRYOUTS today 3-4 pm in the Gym

Basketball

Gr. 8 boys       BASKETBALL OPEN GYM TRYOUTS:

TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY MORNINGS – 7AM – 8:15AM AND FRIDAY’S AFTER SCHOOL FROM 3PM-4PM STARTING SEPT. 23

THSS Recycling Club

This year the Recycling club will set up a sorting station at the great hall Kiosk on Mondays during long TA for you to sort blue box contents. You can obtain a fresh, clean blue box at this time.

You will find cardboard, paper and refundable drink container bins at various locations throughout the building. Ridge Meadows Recycling picks up Tuesdays and Fridays.  Bottle collection and sorting is done on Thursdays.

 

Terry Fox Run

The Terry Fox Run scheduled for Sunday, September 18th and they are looking for help. Contact person is Val Huber. Students may contact her directly at 604-463-1208 or  valhuber@shaw.ca Students will get a letter of reference and volunteer hours can be used towards their GTP and work experience if appropriate. Students volunteered for many years are able to use these letters for scholarships and bursaries as well.

Peer Mentoring

Meeting this Friday (Sept. 16th) at lunch in the Sewing room.

Assigned Time/Applications for Learning

Grade 12 students who have “assigned time” or “applications for learning” with Mr. Clutchey are required to meet with him on Monday Sept. 19th during Y block.

Cross Country

Anyone interested in running Cross Country this year please meet in Room 2137 on Wednesday right afterschool for a brief meeting. All new and returning runners are welcome! Running distances are between 2.5k and 6.5k.

AUDITIONS! AUDITIONS!

Are you new to THSS this year or perhaps you didn’t get a chance to audition last year? We will be holding auditions for remaining roles for the first Sightlines Theatre Production of “It’s a Wonderful Life” All students in All grades are welcome to audition. Go to the theatre callboard at the foot of the ramp leading up to the gym and all the information you need is waiting for you. It’s not too late to be a part of this fantastic winter classic! We are also auditioning for roles for three elementary girls- so if you have a younger sibling or know of a grade 4-7 students who would like to audition- let Mrs. Evans know ASAP.

THUNDERCafe/Volunteering

Any students interested in Business 10 THUNDERCafe or VOLUNTEERING see Mrs Welton ASAP. Meeting soon, will discuss scheduling.

Applications of Learning *Room Change*

Ms. Culbert will hold her Applications of Learning in room 2133

International Education Students

TEC students from Mexico:  Please find Ms. Culbert in front of the counseling offices third period Friday to get your    timetables signed if you haven’t already done so.

 Grad Transitions 12 students

Most of this course will be completed online.  We will meet as a group to kick things off in a

couple of weeks. There will be GT meetings/classes this week.  Stay tuned for more information!
