TODAY:

Attention all staff and students!
There will be a ONE DAY ONLY visit by a French Crepes Food Truck at lunch hour TODAY!  They will be selling a wide variety of crepes that you may buy from the truck BEHIND THE SCHOOL along the sidewalk (nearest to the languages area).  Bring your money and enjoy this special visit!

Grads: be sure to stop by the Counselling Centre to record your height for your grad gown, and your t-shirt size for your dry grad shirt! Grads are also reminded that District Scholarships category A and B are due Monday, March 2 at 3:00pm. No Exceptions. Any questions ask a counselor or Mrs. Domitruk.

 

There will be an assembly regarding the Graduated Licensing Program for all students in grades 10, 11 and 12 during Y block on Monday, February 23rd. This is put on by ICBC, the RCMP and the Fire Hall.

 

Course planning for next year

The grade 9 assembly will take place on Monday, February 23rd during Y block in the Rotunda.

**Students in grades 8-11 do not need to be concerned about missing course selection until AFTER a counselor has come to your English class. All English classes will be visited in the next two weeks. Students can make sure they get their selections done in time by being sure they are in English class the day the counselor visits.

 

Intramural Info

The grade 9 & 10 Badminton Schedule is now posted.  Games start on Monday.  Every team needs to show up at the start of lunch. Soccer sign-up is now posted.  Sheets will be taken down Wednesday, Feb 25.

 

PE Leadership (or PE Student Aide)

If you are interested in taking this course next year you must apply.  You can do this by putting your first and last name on the signup sheet on the board next to the intramural board (outside the rotunda).  The sheet will be taken down on Friday, March 6.  A list with accepted applicants will be posted by Tuesday, April 7.

 

Grade 10 and 11 Students: Interested in Yoga?
Try a beginner yoga class on Monday, February 23rd during Y block in the Yoga studio. Please wear comfortable clothing you can move in and bring a mat if you have one. There are mats available for students who do not have their own.

Random Acts of Kindness Club presents RAK week, February 23-26th, 2015:

Monday           Give out smiles to friends and strangers!

Tuesday          Give out sincere compliments in person and online
Wednesday     Give your friends a hug.
Thursday         Do something kind! Hold a door open for someone.
All Week          Come to the Math and English Great Halls at lunch to write down one thing in your life for which

you are truly grateful, and receive a yummy treat!

SD42 Trades & Academies Information Session – Tuesday, February 24th 7:00 – 9:00 pm

This is a great opportunity for interested parents and students to learn about the Academies and Trades programs available across the Maple Ridge – Pitt Meadows School District. Join us to learn about these opportunities and to speak with teachers and staff from these programs. Our trades programs and academies include: automotive service tech, culinary arts, electrician, framing/carpentry, hair design, plumbing/fitting, masonry, metal fabrication, hockey academy, Microsoft IT academy, soccer academy, digital academy, equestrian academy.

GRAD INFO

 

 

GRAD FEES are available to be paid on the parent portal.

Cap & Gown $50.00, Dinner / Dance $60.00 per ticket (you can purchase 2 if you are bringing a guest), Dry Grad $30.00 per ticket (you can purchase 2 if you are bringing a guest). Parents will be welcome to attend early at Meadow Gardens for photos, but the Dinner / Dance is for students and one guest only (not parents).

  • Upcoming Thompson Rivers University application deadline dates:
    • Natural Resource Science Engineering Transfer: March 1, 2015
    • Respiratory Therapy: March 31, 2015
  • How to Fund Your Degree at KPU: this seminar will be held on March 5, 2015.  They will discuss financial aid options from scholarships to awards to loans. Held at the Langley Campus from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. If interested, please register online at kpu.ca/futurestudents/events/infosession.
  • February 24: Trades & Academies Nightfrom 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Thomas Haney Secondary. This is a great opportunity to see what trades are out there. There will be breakout sessions, displays and an opportunity to converse with instructors of these programs.

  • BC School Sports Scholarship Program (2 @ $500). Application deadline is April 24, 2015.
  • BC School Sports Badminton Scholarship (2 @ $500). Application deadline is May 1, 2015
