Reminder to Grade 11 and 12 students of the Dallas Yellowfly Indigenous Story-telling presentation at the Act theatre on Thursday Sept 28. Please sign-up by Wednesday with Ms. Preibisch or Ms. J Godfrey. Make sure to bring your permission forms!

PLANNER CORRECTION – PAGE 63 AND 64

Please note: the school district amended the calendar and moved the stat day from Friday, November 10th to Monday, November 13th. Students should make this correction in their planners:

On p. 63, 64 Thursday, November 9 is now a regular school day (block order GHABC), Friday, November 10 is a non-instructional day and Monday, November 13 is the stat for Remembrance Day.

Club Day is at lunch on Oct 4 in the Rotunda. Come check out all the clubs and activities Thomas Haney has to offer! ​

Mr. Curwen says: “It’s the club fair fizz that does the bizz!”

THSS Clothing and Grad Hoodies will be on sale next week.  Samples will be available Mondays, Wednesday, and Thursdays outside the rotunda by the intramural board for the next month.  Sizes are a little different, so please try on before ordering.

Order forms and pictures of what is available will be on the board next to the intramural board.

All orders are due by Wednesday, October 25

Photo retake forms are available in the office.  You must have this form completed with payment to have retakes.  Photo retake day is October 13.

Attention Languages Students: The first multiculture seminar of the year will take place on Monday, October 2 during Y block. Please sign up on the board in room 2145.

Crazy Bread Tuesdays is coming to Thomas Haney! PIck up a 4 piece for $2.50. Where? – outside the Thunder Cafe! When? Every Tuesday at lunch!  See you there!!!

Logo Design contest!  Anyone interested in winning a ThunderCaf gift card?   We need a logo designed for the Cafeteria.  Please submit your design to Chef by the end of September in order to qualify for the contest.

The schools FSO (Fruit Salad Organization) meets in Mr. Takasaki’s room off of the English Great Hall, on Wednesdays at lunch.  Hope to see you there!!

​Interested in exploring some of the National Parks in southwest Utah – Zion, Bryce and Grand Staircase-Escalante this coming May? Come to a meeting Thursday September 28th at lunch in room 2010 to find out more.

GRADE 8 and 9 BOYS OPEN GYM BASKETBALL will be held on Wednesday and Friday mornings at 7:00 am. 

Any students wanting to play basketball at lunch in the gym need to bring in their own ball.

Cross Country practices will be on Tuesday’s right after school. Meet in room 2140.

Calling all equestrians- if you love horses and you would like to join the Equestrian Academy students on a field trip out to the Mane Event in Chilliwack on Oct 20 (it’s a Professional day so you won’t miss any school) please see Mrs. Evans for a permission form. The cost will be $25 including admission and transportation.

All theatre students- if you want to attend Motown the Musical in Feb. please sign up on the theatre callboard outside the video studio.

CAREER CENTRE

Students interested in applying for the LORAN scholarship, please come and see Mrs. Sekhon in the career centre.  You will need to write a 250 word essay by Oct 02. Please bring your essays to Mrs. Sekhon in the career centre.

Auditions for supporting roles for the upcoming production of “It’s a Wonderful Life” will begin next week. Go to the theatre callboard beside the video studio for info on how to audition and to sign up for an audition time. All THSS students in ALL grades are welcome to try out.

Scholarship for Grade 12 Students

  • The National/Canadian application for Horatio Alger for students who will be graduating in spring’18 is now open.
  • The National/Canadian deadline is October 25, 2017
