Important Golf Team Meeting Today – at lunch in room 1065. Tech lab closed Friday lunch time.

You are invited! 2ND period TODAY in the Theatre- Thomas Haney grad and working stage actor, Kevin Kraussler is coming to conduct a workshop on the joys, trials and tribulations of being a working stage actor in Canada. If you are interested in how to make the bridge from small town Maple Ridge to the big stage- come down to the theatre for this great opportunity. Float block credit IS available to theatre students but ALL THSS students are welcome to come and listen and ask questions.
Attn Mrs. Yau’s English 9 classes: Looking for some ideas on how you can win our advertising campaign competition? Join us for seminar during Y block, Monday May 12, where last year’s winner, the fabulous Ms. Carly Craft, will show you her winning secrets! Find out how to use colour, fonts and images so effectively, you’ll be able to create a super awesome product pitch and WIN a fabulous prize! See you there!

Grad Permission Forms: Permission forms for Dry Grad/Dinner Dance/ are available in the office. Please fill out asap! Tickets will not be distributed until Safe Ride Home form is completed and submitted to the office. BE SURE ALL FORMS ARE SIGNED APPROPRIATELY.

Important Grad Info!!! Ministry of Education will be MAILING TRANSCRIPTS TO YOUR ADDRESS WE HAVE ON FILE. If you have moved and have not given us your new address you will not receive your transcript. Please see Mrs. Davis if you need changes made or want to double check the info we have.

Scholarships – If you have received a scholarship, please come to the school office and see Ms. Timperio with your letter of confirmation from the issuing institute, in order for us to recognize and congratulate you at the grad ceremony.

Thanks to all those who have signed up to help with Intramurals for next school year. The list is posted on the board by the Intramural board. If you are not on the list and you would still like to help, please see Mrs. Coghill ASAP.

Intramural Soccer – There was a minor error in the standings. The board has been edited. Please check to see when you play on Friday. Your original game time might have changed.

Grade 8 Intramural Badminton – Schedule is posted. Games start Friday, May 23. One more team is needed. Please put your names on the sheet on the board if you want to play

PE 9-12 – If you plan on handing in a PE Outside Credit form for this year the due date is May 16. Please get the form handed into your report card teacher ASAP. Forms are located in both the girls and boys change room hallways.

There will be a drop-in Multi-cultural seminar next Monday May 12 during Y block in the languages area. Board games will be put out during this hour. If you were unable to attend your Cinco de Mayo seminar this would be a great opportunity!

Nepal / China Spring 2015 – Just a reminder for all students interested in next year’s trip to Asia – there is a parent/student meeting Tuesday May 13th at 6 p.m. in room 2010.

Get help to prepare for Science 10 Provincial Exams. Science Great Hall, Monday Block 1 or Wednesday Block 1 or 2. Different topics and skills will be covered each day.

Vancouver Aquarium – Summer work experience. See Mr. Wiens.

Student Summer Event Coordinator Job Posting now on the Career Centre window.

Sustainability Studies 8-day camp/course for students entering Gr. 10 and 11, Aug. 22 – 29. Get connected to local nature, learn a lot about local ecology and have a whole lot of fun! Students can earn 4 Gr. 11 or 12 credits. The entire camp/course, including residence and food, is free. Application deadline is May 12. (3-person limit per school district) Details in the Career Centre.

Career Centre has job postings for summer work. Check them out. They’re posted on the window.

Science World’s Future Science Leaders program – taking applications until May 21, from students entering grade 10/11 next year. Career Centre has info.

SFU Needs volunteers for their summer camps! Online application form, resume and cover letter must be submitted by May 11, 2014. Come to the Career Centre for info.

Grade 11’s!! Want to be trained as a Hair Stylist next year, graduate and be ready to work in a Salon? Now’s your chance because the Hair Styling program at SRT is not full yet. Come to the Career Centre right away if you’re interested because they’re thinking of cancelling the program soon if there aren’t enough students.

Spend a week in Ottawa touring with students from across Canada in the Encounters with Canada program! See Mrs. McGrath in the Career Centre before May 23, if you want to be 1 of 3 student names THSS can submit for next year.

Volunteers needed for Therapeutic Summer Programs – occupational and physiotherapy group is to promote skill development in school-aged special needs children, as well as provide an opportunity to expand social and sports skills. Career Centre has details.

RCMP SPURS PROGRAM – LAST CHANCE TO SIGN UP!! This amazing local program that’s getting recognition across North America won’t run next year if more students don’t sign up this week. They do tons of cool field trips, activities and hands on learning. Come to the Career Centre for info and application forms.

Going to Douglas? – $2,000 Bursary available. Application deadline May 15. Info in the Career Centre.
