SRT Hockey is about to begin! This is an official BC Hockey League. The season is approximately 8 weeks long, and will start the week of April 7 2025. BC Hockey has actually put quite a bit of work in to organize two conferences of mostly Lower Mainland teams. SRT is in the Tier Two Eastern Conference and will play our four league games against Terry Fox (Poco Rink), Riverside1 (Planet Ice MR), Lake City (Planet Ice MR) and Burnaby North (Scotia Barn). Our home ice times will be Mondays at 1:15 pm. Because of the demand for ice time most of the games are early afternoons i.e. 2:30 pm. There is usually only one game per week, so not too much class time missed.
We play Terry Fox Secondary at the Poco Rec Centre on Rink #3 on Wednesday, April 9th @2:30 pm. Lake City is from Williams Lake, so they come down for a weekend and play all of their league games. Our currently scheduled game with them is Saturday, May 10th at 7:00 am at Planet Ice. I don’t have any info on the Riverside or Burnaby North game yet.
There will be 4 league games spread out over April & May. Playoffs start in the middle of May, with the Championship weekend scheduled for Saturday May 24th and Sunday May 25th. Each team is guaranteed one playoff game, it is single elimination.
The cost for the season is already out on the portal. The fees breakdown include registration with BC Hockey, referee costs, player jerseys and socks that they keep.
This should be a fun opportunity for the boys. Let me know if you have any questions (Lesley_McPherson@sd42.ca)
Pacific Rim Hockey Academy has teamed up with Samuel Robertson Technical to develop a program for students in Grades 8-12 that allows them to balance their educational requirements with the development of their hockey skills. Students receive credit for physical education and/or advanced hockey. On and off the ice testing monitors individual improvement throughout the year. Students also receive video analysis, fitness assessments, one-on-one reviews and player profile reports.
Please note, only students that are in SRT catchment can sign up for Hockey Academy.
