| Dear Parents and Guardians, As we move into the final six weeks of the school year, we ask parents and guardians to help reinforce with students the importance of regular attendance, staying focused, and remaining fully engaged right through to the end of June. While the warmer weather and excitement surrounding year-end activities can make it tempting to shift focus away from school, these final weeks are an extremely important time for learning, assessment, and preparation for next year. For all students, attendance matters. Teachers continue to introduce new material, complete major projects and assessments, and provide important review and support leading into final evaluations. Missing classes at this time of year can have a significant impact on achievement and confidence. We also want to remind families that the June exam and assessment schedule applies to all students in Grades 8–12, not just graduating students. Many courses have final projects, presentations, assessments, or exams scheduled during the final weeks of June, and attendance during this period is extremely important. Check our online June calendar which outlines the school’s year-end schedule. In most cases, the double block (eg. EE, GG) sessions will be the most common times for exams and major assessments to take place. However, teachers may, in special circumstances, schedule exams or assessments outside of the timetable. Because of this, it is very important that each student carefully records and keeps track of their individual exam and assessment schedule and pays close attention to instructions from their teachers. The I-Days are intended only for students who have been specifically invited by teachers to attend for tutorials, assessment completion, rewrites, or other academic support. For most students, the last official day of attendance will be Monday, June 22. For our Grade 12 students and families, this message is especially important. Graduation events are exciting and meaningful milestones, but students must remember that graduation ceremonies do not replace the requirement to successfully complete courses and final assessments. The final six weeks of school can make a tremendous difference in whether students finish strong and earn the credits they need for graduation and future plans. Please encourage students to: – Carefully check exam and assessment dates and times. – Write down and organize their personal exam schedule. – Read and follow all instructions from teachers. – Attend review sessions and regular classes consistently. – Communicate with teachers early if they have concerns or questions. – Stay focused and avoid falling behind during this very busy season. We also ask families to avoid booking vacations, trips, or other appointments during instructional and exam days. In order to maintain fairness and exam integrity for all students, teachers are often unable to adjust exams and assessments around individual student schedules. Instead, students and families should plan schedules, appointments, vacations, and travel around the school’s assessment timetable. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to help students finish the school year successfully. The habits students build now like attendance, perseverance, organization, and commitment, will serve them well beyond high school.
