Grade 8s & BC First Peoples 12 field trip to Grouse Mountain

September 26

As part of the science 8 biology and earth science unit, all the grade 8 classes from both Day 1 and Day 2 will be going to Grouse Mountain on Friday, September 26, 2025.

Students will explore the BC temperate rainforest ecosystem and the geological formations of the coastal mountains, examining both the scientific aspects and the connection to First Nations peoples and culture. The activities will encompass:

  • 1 Wildlife & Outdoor Education Session
  • 1 First Nations Culture Presentation
  • gondola ride from the base of Grouse Mountain to the peak of Vancouver (the summit)

Mountain weather conditions can change quickly and are often unpredictable regardless of the time of year.  As a rule, please prepare for all weather condition. Appropriate clothing and good walking shoes is recommended as walking will be part of the activities.  

Students not attending the field trip will be required to attend school as they will have alternate assignments in lieu of attending the trip. Students will not be permitted to stay home.

**NOTE** A participation rate of 90% from the grade 8 class must be reached before the field trip can proceed.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT SEATING IS LIMITED.  PLEASE ENROLL EARLY TO SAVE A SEAT FOR THE TRIP.
