(August 29th) Important Reminders re School Start-up Next Week (please read)

Good morning PMSS Families. We’re sharing a couple important reminders prior to school start next week.

ARRIVAL TIMES for Tuesday, September 2nd (the students will only be here for approx. 45-60 minutes), please note that there are NO school buses running this day.

Students will report to their A-block classroom at their grade-specific time below to pick-up their schedules and receive other school information.  ** The A-block classes will be posted on a large whiteboard at the front of the school.

  • Grade 8s: 10:00 a.m. (Please do NOT arrive much earlier as staff will be in a meeting)
  • Grade 9/10s: 11:00 a.m.
  • Grade 11/12s: noon
  • NEW International Students – 1:00 p.m. (meet your Liaison in the Multipurpose Room)

The 2025-2026 student schedules will be available to view through STUDENT MyClass accounts when MyClass opens at 3:00 p.m. TODAY (August 29th).

Student MyClass log-in information will only be sent to ‘individual@sd42.ca’ student email accounts (which is your studentnumber@me.sd42.ca) – this goes to your Office 365 Outlook.  Here is a great resource for that (instructions and a video):

  • MyClass link:  https://myedbc.sd42.ca/MyClass/– report card access, classroom resources, calendars etc. The student will have one login (their student number and the parent has another. A reminder, the student log-in is their student number.
  • Students who have forgotten their passwords can use the I Forgot My Password reset, reminder that their primary email is studentnumber@me.sd42.ca. (see instructions below for accessing student email)
  • Students needing MyClass HELP must email myclass@sd42.ca as PMSS school staff cannot reset MyClass passwords for you.
  • Parent MyClass accounts will open later in September.

The link for the STUDENT EMAIL LOGIN is located below (example:  studentnumber@mrpm.sd42.ca).  Your password is BIRTHYEAR.MONTH.DAY.initials – example: Amy Smith born January 2, 2014 would be “2014.01.02.as”:

  • Sign in to your student email account

Parents and students are strongly encouraged to use our SCHOOL WEBSITE as a source of information, as well as to download the school app, ‘MY SCHOOL DAY’ which is available for free.

  • PMSS Website – https://secondary.sd42.ca/pmss/ – general school info, important/timely reminders from the office are usually posted on the main page, where to access staff and teacher contact/email addresses, you can view the newsletters, view the calendar, view the Code of Conduct, see Grad info (once the Committee is up and running), etc.
  • My School Day –  https://myschoolday.app/download – school’s phone app to view daily updates to calendar/schedule/timetable, homework.

IMPORTANT – make sure you are connected to the PARENT PORTAL – this is where you submit student absences, pay student, yearbook and applicable athletic fees, where you view and pay for fieldtrips/events, where you complete the required school consent forms (once set up by the District), where school-wide notices are sent out to families and specific groups from the office, etc.

  • Parent Portal – https://parents.sd42.ca/Parents/ParentLoginPage.aspx – submitting absences, receive newsletters, consent forms, fees, etc.

Enjoy the long weekend everyone,

PMSS Admin

Registration for School District Transportation for the 2025/2026 school year

Dear Parents/Guardians:

This is a reminder that registration for students eligible for school district transportation for the 2025/26 school year is open until 4:00 pm on June 27, 2025.

Regular student transportation is available for eligible students living and attending school in the following school catchments:

  • Blue Mountain Elementary
  • Garibaldi Secondary (who are not residing in Silver Valley / Rockridge area*)
  • Highland Park Elementary
  • Pitt Meadows Secondary
  • Webster’s Corners Elementary
  • Whonnock Elementary

* As part of the 2025/26 budget approved on April 30, 2025, the Board of Education discontinued the bus routes serving Garibaldi Secondary students in the Silver Valley and Rockridge areas due to financial pressures, low ridership, and the availability of public transit alternatives. To support the anticipated increase in student use of public transit, the school district has worked with Coast Mountain Bus Company to enhance service. Coast Mountain has confirmed there is sufficient capacity on routes 741, 733, and 701, with additional afternoon trips being added on routes 741 and 733. Transfer times at Haney Place will be coordinated to support student connections, and ridership will be monitored to determine if further adjustments are needed.

Eligible students for regular student transportation are defined as:

  • Resident primary students (grades K-3) and their siblings attending the same school who live farther than 4 kilometers from their catchment area school;
  • All other resident students (grades 4-12) who live farther than 4.8 kilometers from their catchment area school.

Eligibility for transportation for students with disabilities and diverse abilities is based on criteria set out in Policy 5400 on the school district website.

To register for regular student transportation or transportation for students with disabilities or diverse abilities, please click on the announcement titled Student Transportation 2025/2026 – Registration. The registration deadline is 4 p.m., June 27, 2025.

For instructions on how to register for student transportation on the Parent Portal, please see the Step-by-Step Registration Guide. Additional information about student transportation is available on the school district website: https://www.sd42.ca/student-transportation/.
