– Wear fall colours of brown, beige and orange. Bring on the cozy vibe, dress up and get a piece of pumpkin pie at Flex in the MPR.

Tuesday, October 27^th…Pajama Day

– Wear your coziest pajamas and join us in the MPR at Flex for some fall-themed colouring.

Wednesday, October 28^th…Swap Your Bag Day

– Bring your Trick-or-Treat Bag to school instead of your regular bag; go trick-or-treating at Flex going class to class (it’ll be obvious which classes are participating).

Thursday, October 29^th…Twin Day

– Be ‘twinsies’ with someone. Swing by the MPR at Flex for a Friendship Bracelet.

Friday, October 30^th… Photobooth Friday & Costume Contest

– Join us in the MPR at Flex for spooky and fun photos with your friends.

– Want to participate in the contest? You must scan the QR code (posted throughout the school) to sign up! We want to see your most creative, scary, and hilarious costumes. Winners will be selected by Grade at Flex in the MPR.

PMSS Haunted House – open Tuesday through Thursday in the Drama Room (accessed through the MPR). The visit schedule is as follows:

– Tuesday:  Grade 8s and 9s (Flex)

– Wednesday:  Grade 10s and 11s (Flex)

– Thursday:  Grade 12s (Flex)

Our Daily Announcements are read over the PA system each morning to keep students informed about what’s happening around PMSS.

Attention Grade 12 Parents/Guardians: The countdown to Graduation 2027 has begun, and we invite ALL our PMSS Grade 12 Parents and Guardians to attend our first Parent Grad Meeting. Date:  Monday, October 5th at 7:00 pm Where:  PMSS in the Multipurpose Room (just south of the main entrance doors) This meeting is an opportunity for our Grade 12 families to come together and begin planning the memorable events that celebrate our graduates – including the Dinner/Dance and Dry Grad (which features entertainment, activities, prizes, food, and more). The Grad celebrations are made possible through the dedication and support of Parent Volunteers. Whether you can contribute a little time or take on a larger role, every helping hand makes a difference. As the saying goes, many hands make light work, and the more families involved – the more successful and enjoyable these events will be for our Grads. At this first meeting, we will: Discuss fundraising opportunities Begin planning Grad events and activities Form volunteer committees Share ideas and gather parent input Outline how families can get involved throughout the year No experience is necessary. We welcome new ideas, fresh perspectives, and all levels of participation! We encourage every Grade 12 family to send at least one representative if possible. Together, we can create an unforgettable Grad experience for the Class of 2027. We look forward to seeing you there!

Tomorrow, PMSS will recognize Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

We encourage all students and staff to wear orange in honour of Residential School Survivors, their families, and communities.

Orange Shirt Day serves as a reminder of the lasting impacts of the residential school system and the importance of learning, reflection, and reconciliation. By wearing orange, we acknowledge the message that Every Child Matters and demonstrate our commitment to creating a more inclusive and respectful future for all.

This week marks the beginning of FLEX Time at Pitt Meadows Secondary. FLEX will take place each day from 9:45 a.m. to 10:26 a.m.

An important reminder for students and families is that FLEX is instructional time, not free time. Students are expected to remain on campus and use this time purposefully by working with one of their eight teachers. FLEX might include completing assignments, receiving additional support, working collaboratively, accessing enrichment opportunities, or getting ahead on upcoming work.

FLEX also provides students with an important opportunity to develop greater independence and responsibility for their learning. Students will need to think ahead, identify their priorities, schedule their time, and make decisions about where their time is best spent. These are skills that will serve them well beyond high school, whether they move on to post-secondary education, employment, or other opportunities.

Students are encouraged to plan ahead and sign up in advance if they would like to attend a specific teacher’s FLEX space. This can be done from home, allowing students to think about their learning needs and make a plan before arriving at school.

We also encourage families to have conversations with their student(s) about FLEX planning. Asking questions such as what they are working on, where they plan to go for FLEX, or which teacher they may need support from can help students develop the habits of planning, prioritizing, and taking ownership of their learning.

Students are expected to remain in their selected learning space for the full FLEX block. The PMSS personal digital device expectations also remain in effect during FLEX, just as they do during other instructional time.

As students become familiar with FLEX, our staff will continue to support them in learning how to make thoughtful and productive choices with this time. We are excited about the opportunities FLEX will provide for students to access support, pursue their learning, and develop greater ownership over their school experience.

PAC Meeting Date Change! All PMSS Parents/Guardians Welcome!

Please note that the date of our first PMSS PAC meeting has been moved from September 28 to Tuesday, September 22  at 7:00 pm due to a scheduling conflict.

We encourage all PMSS parents and guardians to attend. PAC meetings are a great opportunity to stay informed, share your voice, connect with other families, and support our school community.

We hope to see as many parents and guardians as possible on Tuesday, September 22 at 7 pm. Your participation makes a difference!

Wondering what’s happening at Pitt? PMSS students hear the daily announcements each morning covering school news, events, activities, and important reminders. Families can also access a PDF version of the announcements under the STUDENT top tab on our website.

Sharing the bell schedule for the first two weeks of school while there is NO FLEX.  Start and end of day times are the exact same.  The block order on the My School Day App is correct but the times will not be updated as its only for a week and a half.  The regular bell schedule will take effect on Tuesday, September 22nd (Monday, September 21st is a Non-Instructional Day).

The following is an excerpt from our 2026-2027 Welcome Back Letter (sent out via the Parent Portal on August 28th) regarding school start-up on September 8th…

 

Tuesday, September 8th: Upon arrival at their grade-designated times, students are to proceed directly to their Block A Class (schedules will be accessible via Student’s MyClass later in the day on Friday, September 4th).

Teachers will welcome students, review opening day materials, school structures, assign lockers, and answer any questions. Students will be here approximately one hour and dismissed following their session.

• Grade 8 Students – start time 10:00 a.m. (please do NOT arrive much earlier as all staff will be in a meeting)
• Grade 9/10 Students – start time 11:00 a.m.
• Grade 11/12 Students – start time 12:00 noon
• NEW International Students:  1:00 – 2:30 p.m. You will meet your Liaison in the Multipurpose
  Room (1014) for a school tour, get your class schedule and answer any questions you might have.
  • If you are a RETURNING International Student, please attend at your grade specific time above.

** IMPORTANT – there will NOT be any school buses running on Sept. 8th.  They will start their regular schedule on Wednesday, September 9th.
