Accessing Support for Students with Learning Needs
With Student-led conferences happening tomorrow, Thursday, October 13th, here is a way you can coordinate support with your child’s classroom teachers using our FLEX system.
What is FLEX?
Flex time is block of 40 minutes which occurs between first & second period daily each school day. This means that every day students have the opportunity to connect with their classroom teachers for extra time to complete homework, extra one-on-one with teachers, guidance for studying and the opportunity to work on projects. FLEX time gives students some measure of choice and control over their own learning. During FLEX, students are expected to be in a learning space, work on school work, either individually or in groups, meet with teachers for support with classwork or work on projects under teacher supervision.
How can you use it as a parent/guardian?
A great question to ask teachers at anytime is, “Is my son/daughter seeing you at FLEX?” If not, and you have concerns, a plan between teacher, parent and student can be established for the student to schedule a regular time to be in a teacher’s space in FLEX to get assistance.
