Home Show Volunteers

Any students who wish to volunteer at the home show need to attend the meeting today, Wednesday, above the curling rink at Planet Ice at 4 PM.

Home Show students also need to pick up and return WorkSafe forms to the Career Centre.

Due to Dogwood Presentations, Mr. Urquhart has cancelled the following classes:

Wednesday: blocks C & D

Thursday: blocks H & C

ALL PE STUDENTS PE Strip reminder – T-shirts or hoodies are required for PE.  No tank tops, muscle shirts, or shirts that are too short in length.  You do not need to tuck your shirt in, but it should be long enough that you could if you wanted. Shorts must also be an appropriate length.

Saturday April 23 is EARTH DAY!!  Go to the Haney Farmer’s market that day to take part in Maple Ridge’s celebrations!

In honour of Earth Day the Eco-Action group and RAK is hosting EARTH WEEK April 25-29.

On Monday, come and help clean up on the Shoreline Clean up Field trip on Monday April 25 during Y block and 3rd block. See Mrs. van der Pauw for a permission form and come to the meeting on Thursday at lunch in room 2140 if you’d like to attend.

Check out and enjoy the Earth Week menu in the caf all week!

In the rotunda, buy yourself a nifty earth week button made by RAK and Eco-Action members for only $1!!

Also show us that you brought a littler-less lunch and we will give you a free button!

On Wednesday April 27 come watch WALLE at lunch in the presentation room – free treats!!!

What can you do to make THSS, your home and our planet a greener, healthier place?

Tutor needed: Looking for a male tutor in grade 10, 11 or 12 for a grade 6 boy for the next few months, and likely through the summer. Paying position. All academic areas. If interested, see Mr. von Matt

Intramural Basketball

The schedules will be posted before the end of the week.  There will be three tournaments: Senior, Junior and All Girls.  Games will start on Monday, April 25.

Students are still able to sign up the following courses for next year:

Work Experience: we will help you find a placement or you can receive credit for your paid job

Community Service: receive credits for volunteer work done in the community. There is also the potential of a Dogwood Scholarship in the area of your Community Service.  See Mr. Wiens if interested in either of these opportunities.

The Annual THSS Poetry Slam will take place the afternoon of Friday, April 29. We are also looking forward to hosting the district poetry slam in May

ATTENTION GRADS:

Please ensure that you’ve paid your grad fees! 

Please remember that your Grad Trans is due Friday, April 29th!  Don’t leave it until the last day.

Grade 12’s – There is a ‘Standing Tall’ Scholarship available from Coast Capital Savings. It supports youth who have faced adversity and not only risen up against the odds, but are demonstrating a commitment to continue their education. This award is open to students who have faced challenges like poverty, health issues, family issues, personal loss, or lack of supports. Applications are in the Career Centre and due back by April 22.

 

Secondary Online Summer Learning 2016

Offers online learning and full course credit and runs from May to July. Courses must be completed between May 4 and July 26. Note that students still need to enroll in 8 courses next year

Runs from July 5 – 26 (8:00 am – 1:30 pm) here at THSS.

Online registration only between May 9 and May 20

Both of these options are free unless you are an international student. Please pick up a form in the counseling centre for more information
