This year, Samuel Robertson Technical Secondary is more full than at any point in the past 20 years. Most of our classes are at or near maximum size. Because of this, some students were not placed in all of their first-choice courses and were scheduled into their alternate selections instead.
Given these circumstances, our ability to make timetable changes is very limited at this time. Currently, we are only considering class changes for the following reasons:
Grade 12 students who are missing a course required for graduation.
Students assigned to the wrong grade level (for example, a Grade 9 student in a Grade 10 course).
- Students missing a required academic course for graduation (such as Social Studies 10 or a Grade 11 math course).
- Students who already completed a course (for example, through summer school) but still see it listed on their timetable.
A few subject areas are particularly full, including the senior sciences, Pre-Calculus, and all Food Studies classes. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate additional requests for these courses at this time.
We understand that many students may wish to request changes for other reasons, and we encourage patience while the scheduling process settles. There will be opportunities for changes in the coming weeks as space becomes available. Teachers are aware of the challenges of full classes and will fully support students as timetables adjust during this period.
Thank you for your understanding and support as we work to ensure all students are placed in the courses they need to graduate and succeed.
