Garibaldi Secondary is holding its third annual Arts Gala Night this month, featuring a student visual arts exhibition and an open mic.
The open mic, called Coffee House, is new to the gala this year on Thursday, May 29, 2025.
“Coffee House is a vibrant open mic night that is put on by our students,” said Beth Macdougall, a teacher who helps run the event. “In its third official year, student performers grace the stage with a variety of acts, including singing, stand-up comedy and poetry reading.”
Coffee House also features a concession stand full of homemade goods and student-made stickers.
“Students of all ages are welcome,” Macdougall added.
The Arts Gala Night will begin at 6 p.m. with the visual arts display in the cafeteria, along with a wide array of delicious appetizers and desserts. At 7:30 p.m., students will take centre stage in the theatre for the Coffee House open mic.
Admission is by cash donation at the main school entrance. All funds raised will support these arts programs.
