Today’s Black Brilliance information is about Senator Anne Clare Cools, born in 1943 in Barbados. She is the first Black female senator in all of North America. Senator Cools was also a social worker in Toronto who worked to support women and children experiencing violence. She founded one of Canada’s first Women’s shelters and has won many awards for her work.
