Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

School districts across the province are working with local Health Authorities with updates on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Since the release of this update, many different concerns have begun to circulate online in the region. For all the latest information, visit the School District No. 42 website at www.sd42.ca/news/announcements/.

Additionally, consistent practice of good respiratory etiquette and hand hygiene will help to limit exposure.

  • cover the mouth and nose during coughing or sneezing with a tissue or a flexed elbow and disposing of used tissues in a plastic-lined waste container, followed by hand hygiene.
  • wash hands with plain soap and water, is effective at removing visible soil as well as viruses.

The Provincial Health Officer advises that children in the school setting should clean their hands:

• before leaving home and on arrival at school
• after using the toilet
• after breaks and sporting activities
• before food preparation
• before eating any food, including snacks
• before leaving school
