Happening Today – June 17

The answer to yesterday’s PRIDE question of the day, “When did Maple Ridge first paint the rainbow crosswalk on 224th?”, the answer is June 2016. Today’s question is, “What year was the Stonewall Riots?”. Today we hold our final fire drill of the school year. There are still some dry grad prizes to collect from Chef – check the Grads team pages for a list of names. Meeting at lunch today is Fiction Addiction. Library books need to be returned without delay. On Thursday, we’ll be celebrating Juneteenth: this day commemorates the emancipation or end of slavery in the USA. In Canada the date is August 1st but school is not in session then so we will celebrate the steps towards freedom on this day. We will have African drummers, Steelpan and activity stations set up from 9:45-12:15 in front of the school. Pizza sales at lunch, and if pizza isn’t your thing, the Caf’EH has noodle cups, Ramen bowls, pizza pops, toasted bagels with cream cheese and more at lunch all week.
