During Black History Month we will be sharing information daily. Today’s message is:
As we recognize Black History Month, it’s important to know that Black history in Canada goes back more than 400 years. Black people have lived on this land since the early 1600s—as explorers, farmers, soldiers, business owners, artists, and community leaders. Their stories are not a side note to Canadian history; they are a foundational part of it. Black History Month invites us to recognize contributions that have too often been overlooked and to better understand the Canada we live in today.
