Today MRSS is taking part in BC’s Shakeout BC earthquake drill along with thousands of others in the province. While we practice our drill, I’d like you to take this drill seriously. We live in the Pacific Rim of Fire, a huge area in the basin of the Pacific Ocean where many earthquakes and volcanic eruptions occur. Approximately 400 earthquakes occur each year in the region extending from the north end of Vancouver Island to Seattle. In fact 90% of the world’s earthquakes and about 81% of the world’s largest earthquakes occur along the Ring of Fire. So let’s practice and be prepared because you just never know…
