We look forward to the start of another new school year at Westview! Here is some important information to start the 2026-2027 school year.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Westview Summer Office Hours<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The office is now closed and will reopen on August 31<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">st<\/span>\u00a0from 8:00am \u2013 3:00pm and effective Sept 8, 8:00am \u2013 3:30pm.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Student Timetables<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Our timetable is still being finalized. Therefore, student timetables will be available in MyEdBC for viewing Friday, September 4. All students will be provided with a copy of their timetable as they arrive at school the first week back. This is open to all students who are new to our catchment area. <strong>Please note this is <u>NOT<\/u> for the \u2018incoming\u2019 catchment grade 7s or new international students as they have their own separate events taking place<\/strong>. We will provide a school tour and a rundown of how our timetable works while welcoming you to our great school!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grade 8 Orientation &#8211; Open House<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, September 3 from 12pm \u2013 2pm we are hosting the Grade 8 Orientation Day Open House.<\/p>\n<p>We are so excited to be welcoming our new cohort of Grade 8s to Westview! Grade 8s are welcome to drop by during this time to get a treat and have a look around the school to familiarize themselves before Sept 8. For students who want to make a change to their schedule, Course Correction Forms will be available for pick up and drop off in the main office.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All Course Correction Requests will be made online, by students scanning a QR code and entering their requests via the online form<\/li>\n<li><strong>Please note that submitting a Course Correction Request does not guarantee that we will be able to accommodate your request.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>It is essential that students follow their current schedules, even while waiting for changes to be made. Counsellors and Admin will be looking for you according to your current schedule, and if you are not present in class, they will move on to the next student\u2019s course request change form.<\/li>\n<li>Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact the counsellors by email.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Student Fee Payment &amp; Lockers (2026-27)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All students in SD42 are required to pay a $35 Student Fee. This fee may be paid on the Parent Portal or students can pay student fees by cheque or cash in the main office at school during the first week of school. Yearbooks are OPTIONAL ($65) and may be paid on-line through the parent portal or at the main office with cash or cheque. See <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mapleridge.ca\/news\/know-you-ride-e-scooters-not-permitted-maple-ridge-roads-or-sidewalks\"><strong>website<\/strong><\/a><strong> for further details.<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>A Note About E-Bikes at Westview Secondary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>E-bikes are becoming a very popular way for students to get around, and we want to make sure our community understands both the laws in British Columbia and our expectations at Westview. Our goal is always to keep students safe and supported.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What the Law Says<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students must be at least 14 years old to ride a light e-bike (pedal-assist only, up to 250W, maximum 25 km\/h).<\/li>\n<li>Students must be at least 16 years old to ride a standard e-bike (up to 500W, maximum 32 km\/h, throttle permitted).<\/li>\n<li>Riders younger than these ages are not legally permitted to operate an e-bike.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more details, you can review the full provincial regulations here: <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/transportation\/driving-and-cycling\/cycling\/cycling-regulations-restrictions-rules\/e-bikes#ebikes\">https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/transportation\/driving-and-cycling\/cycling\/cycling-regulations-restrictions-rules\/e-bikes#ebikes<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What This Means at Westview<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If your child meets the age requirements and chooses to ride an e-bike to school, they will need to walk their bike on and off school property to help keep everyone safe.<\/li>\n<li>Students should bring their own lock to secure their e-bike in the racks provided.<\/li>\n<li>If a student rides an e-bike to school but does not meet the age requirements, we will kindly ask parents\/guardians to come and take the bike home.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We appreciate your partnership as we guide students to make safe and responsible choices.
