FSO News:<\/strong><\/span> \u00a0The FSO is holding another speakers’ night at THSS on February 16 at 6:30 pm. We’ll have speakers, performers, musicians, and poets from around the lower mainland discuss \u00a0LGBTQ+ issues. Topics include gender neutral washrooms, coming out, and getting involved in your community as an LGBTQ+ person. This event is open to everyone! Refreshments will be provided and admission is free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grad Transitions 12:<\/u><\/strong> \u00a0At this point, your Grad Transitions assignments should be complete. \u00a0Be sure to turn in any missing forms (exit interview, etc.) to your teacher ASAP. \u00a0If your course is not done, you should be attending your fixed block\u00a0every Friday.<\/p>\n

Attending a Post-Secondary School?<\/strong><\/span> Be sure that you have completed your PSI online form if you are planning to apply to\u00a0post-secondary institutions. An early offer of admission doesn’t mean that you can skip this step because this is how post-secondary institutions confirm that you have graduated at the end of the year. Remember: it is your responsibility to ensure that your transcripts are sent to post-secondary institutions by their deadlines. Read letters and emails from PSIs to ensure that you don’t miss a step!<\/p>\n

There is a mandatory grade 12 meeting<\/strong> on Monday, February 6<\/strong> during Y block in the rotunda<\/p>\n

The first dinner \/ dance committee meeting<\/strong> will take place on Tuesday, February 7<\/strong> at lunch in room 2145. All grads are welcome!<\/p>\n

-The BC Government and Service Employees\u2019 Union BCGEU<\/strong>\u00a0is please to once again offer scholarships for post-secondary studies undertaken by BCGEU members, staff and their families. For details check\u00a0www.bcgeu.ca\/union education<\/a>\u00a0Applications must be submitted online by midnight on Sunday, March 12, 2017<\/p>\n

-Save-On-Foods<\/strong>\u00a0has partnered with UFCW Local 1518 to offer up to ten scholarships valued at $1,000 each to individuals who have played a significant role in diversity initiatives in their school and\/or community. The online application for this scholarship is available on our Diversity Scholarship page at\u00a0www.owfq.com\/diversity<\/a>. \u00a0Applications must be received by May 1, 2017. See Mrs. Sekhon in the career center for more info.<\/p>\n

–BC Excellence scholarships<\/strong> need to write an essay of 300 words explaining their leadership talents by Feb 1 to get nominated. Applications must reach to the ministry office by Feb 15.<\/p>\n

-The Cmolik Foundation scholarships<\/strong> to deserving BC students is also available. \u00a0For the nomination and for more info check with Mrs. Sekhon in the career centre.<\/p>\n

Science Department News<\/u><\/strong>: \u00a0There will be beef heart dissections in the Science Lab on the following dates. Everyone is welcome!

THSS Clothing Now On Sale:<\/strong><\/span>
\nThere are t-shirts, long sleeves, hoodies, crew necks and sweat pants. Photos of the clothing and order forms are on the board beside the intramural board. Samples will be available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays until February 16 outside the rotunda. Money and forms can be handed in to Ms. Clayton or Ms. Coghill.<\/p>\n

Attention French Students:<\/strong><\/span> if you are interested in participating in the French Public Speaking competition this year, please see Mme Preddy to get more information<\/p>\n

Attention Languages Students:<\/strong><\/span> the Languages teachers will be having a work blitz at lunch on February 6, 8 and 9 in the Languages Area. Bring your lunch, your French \/ Spanish \/ Japanese work and get lots done before the next report card.<\/p>\n

<\/u>Interested in Skiing or Boarding at Whistler?<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0 The THSS ski and board club has\u00a0two trips planned: February 4th<\/strong> and March 4th<\/strong> to Whistler. Come get more information and a permission form from Ms. Fischer or Mr. Williams. All levels welcome!<\/p>\n

Schulich Leader Scholarships<\/u><\/strong> are prestigious entrance scholarships awarded to high school graduates enrolling in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics at 20 Canadian partner universities. Interested students need to write a 300 word essay demonstrating their leadership skills to get nominated. The deadline is January 25. For more info come see Mr. Von Matt, Ms. Matthews or Mrs. Sekhon in the Career Centre.<\/p>\n
