Important Information Regarding Marks

To our SRT Titan Community:

In order to clarify for parents and students, here are some important things to note regarding marks for 2019-2020:

1. Not all teachers entered 3rd term marks–it was optional; however, all FINAL MARKS include some elements/work/efforts completed during 3rd term.  This mark is determined differently by teachers based on individual courses and expectations.  How one teacher assesses will likely differ from that of another.

2. Honour Roll/Top Titan will only look at FINAL MARKS and will not take into consideration Term 3 work habits whatsoever.

3. SG= Standing Granted–This is a mark given to students who were close to passing but not quite there.  It means that the student has earned the required credits for graduation and will be promoted to the next grade level.  Students who earned an SG are not required to go to summer school; although it may be beneficial.

4. The first point of contact for questions regarding marks is always the teacher, not the office.  If you have concerns regarding marks, please contact the teacher directly.  Obviously, the summer months may make that difficult as they are not required to be on call to check emails while away from school.

5. Be kind, be patient and remember that it is never the end of the world when it comes to marks, Top Titan or otherwise.  The social-emotional wellness of staff and students is our top priority; so please be sure that any emails sent to teachers or administration are constructive and professional.

We hope that the entire Titan Community, from outgoing graduates to incoming grade 8s have a wonderful summer.  Stay safe, and see you in September!

Monday Morning Jokes: Holiday Edition!

Donkersloot and Perger missed you last week, and so just in time for this holiday Monday, they’ve got some most excellent jokes for you:

Careers 9

Students in Grade 9 should be completing their Careers 9 booklets prior to the end of the month.

Grads of 2020

You should have received a letter from Ms. Sylvia Russell, District 42’s Superintendent regarding the year end events.    As the letter indicates, the Dinner & Dance is officially cancelled with no future plans to organize one.    In addition, the Grad Ceremony is also greatly modified to be an on-line or virtual graduation.    We will do our absolute best to make this virtual graduation ceremony as memorable as possible for you, but it will greatly depend on your cooperation and timely submission of items.   We have a very tight deadline to get the video production completed in time.

Here is what we need from you before MAY 29th:

  • Photo of you or drawing you made or something you want recorded with you in isolation.   We hope to have a montage of your activities to begin the video.
  • A short video of you in formal wear – if you have it – dancing with a parent(s).  No worries if you don’t have your nice dress or tux.   Whatever you have is great.  Just a short clip (15-20 seconds max). We hope to have a montage of Grads dancing at the end of the video.
  • We will order you your Gown, Cap, Tassel, V-Neck Stole and where applicable, a Gold Stole if you are getting an award.  Please send us a video of you wearing your Gown etc. and then tossing your cap in the air.   We will try to compile that.

Unfortunately, the Gown will require a deposit of $100.00 totally refundable when the Gown is returned.   You will have the Gown for several days to take pictures with your family and you will get to keep the Cap, Tassel and Gold Stole. .   Also, the cost to rent the Gowns is $25.00.  You have already paid for this with your Grad Fees.   That won’t be returned.

You can upload those photos and videos to Dropbox:
