Careers 9: Upcoming Sessions

As we head into the last part of the 2018/2019 school year, Grade 9s should be wrapping up their careers assignments.

THERE ARE 3 MORE SCHOOL PRESENTATIONS:
April 16th @Flex in the Library- Trades 101
May 1st or 2nd @Flex in room 1170 (Junior Shop, across from Metalwork)

Mrs. Allen will be holding help sessions in the Library during Flex in April and May to help with your work/MyBlueprint.  Listen for announcements and check the app for details.

Assignments Checklist & Due Dates:

  • Sign up or on to My Blueprint
  • Take Our Kids to Work Day
  • Take Our Kids to Work Reflection on MyBlueprint in your Careers 9 portfolio.
  • Complete the following “Tasks” on MyBlueprint:
    • Add 2 Goals
    • Favourite 1 Opportunity
    • Complete Interest Survey
    • Favourite 1 Occupation
  • Participate in 2 school presentations:
    • Worksafe BC Presentation (3 offered in December/January)
    • Trades Sessions (December 12th and April 16th
    • Skills Canada (May 1 & 2)
  • Complete 2 reflections about the presentations in your Careers 9 Portfolio.
    • *If you did not participate in Take Our Kids to Work Day, then you will need to attend 3 school presentations

1. Where did you complete your workday?
2.What were 3 things you learned during your workplace visit?
3. What careers did you learn about in your workplace?
4. What did you learn about yourself during your visit (200 words)

Questions for School Presentations:

1. What is one thing you learned that you didn’t know before?
2. What is one question you still have?
3. How can you use the information from the presentation in your current life? In the future?
