{"id":1762,"date":"2024-11-06T22:13:03","date_gmt":"2024-11-06T22:13:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/secondary.sd42.ca\/srt\/?page_id=1762"},"modified":"2026-06-15T06:41:15","modified_gmt":"2026-06-15T14:41:15","slug":"graduation-ceremony","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/secondary.sd42.ca\/srt\/graduation-ceremony\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduation Ceremony"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Grad location<\/strong> \u2013 Chandos Pattison Auditorium, Pacific Academy, 10238 168 St. Surrey<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BALLOONS AT CHANDOS<\/strong> &#8211; The staff at Chandos Theatre has asked us to relay to families that no balloons will be allowed into the building. You will be stopped at the door so please do not bring them and let your family members know that as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PHONES AT GRAD<\/strong> &#8211; We ask your help in encouraging grads to leave their phones with parents during the ceremony. The grads are much more attentive to the event when they do not have their phone. We appreciate your assistance with this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PARKING AT CHANDOS<\/strong> &#8211; Please adhere to the parking attendants (SRT teachers) who will direct you to available parking. Please be mindful that our ceremony is at a school&#8217;s theatre and they are still in session. Ensure that you only park in proper parking spots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\">** Doors open at 3:30 ** Ceremony begins at 5:00<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Cap and Gown \/ ceremony tickets<\/strong> &#8211; grads may pick up their cap and gown and tickets on Thursday, June 11 any time between 12:30 p.m.-3:15 p.m. in the library (not earlier). If a grad cannot make it Thursday afternoon, a parent may pick up on their behalf. Gown\/tickets will also be available on Friday morning for those that cannot come on Thursday afternoon. Directly after the ceremony, grads will be asked to hand in their gown as they need to be shipped back the next day. Each grad may keep their cap as a keepsake. Please take all your family photos over the weekend and before the ceremony as there will be no opportunity after the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>GRAD REHEARSALS <\/strong>&#8211; Monday, June 15, 2:15 p.m. we will be having a grad rehearsal in the SRT cafeteria (approximately 25 minutes). We highly encourage all grads to be in attendance so they know what to expect at the ceremony. If a grad cannot make it due to extenuating circumstances, they can get the information sheet from a friend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CEREMONY LENGTH <\/strong>&#8211; We are often asked how long the ceremony will last so families can make plans. The ceremony will commence promptly at 5:00 p.m. and should finish at approximately 7:15-7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>CHANDOS PATTISON AUDITORIUM<\/strong> &#8211; We have had the privilege to rent this beautiful facility for the past several years. Please only bring water into the theatre and no food or confetti. We want to ensure an easy clean up after the ceremony is completed. Please adhere to the direction of the parking attendants who will assist with areas available to park. If possible, carpooling is always a great idea. The doors will not open until 3:30 p.m. All grads must be checked in by 4:15 p.m. at the latest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>STUDENTS:<\/strong><br>Don\u2019t forget to bring your <strong>cap and gown<\/strong>!<br>Wear comfortable but nice shoes! You will have to walk in\/out of the auditorium and up\/down some stairs to\/from the stage.<br>Wear something nice under your gown \u2013 e.g: summer dress \/ casual pants and button down shirt.<br>You will receive your <strong>cap and gown<\/strong> the weekend before the ceremony so take lots of family pictures <strong>before<\/strong> you arrive at Chandos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>When you arrive<\/strong>, pick up your <strong>Graduation Folder<\/strong> \u2013 make sure that you don\u2019t drop anything inside the folder including your bio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There will be a <strong>group photo<\/strong> inside the entrance to the Auditorium at <strong>4:45<\/strong> so make sure you are there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>After<\/strong> the group photo you will line up in <strong>TWO LINES<\/strong> for the <strong>processional<\/strong> into the theatre \u2013 <strong>** FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS AND DO NOT STOP WALKING ONCE PROCESSIONAL BEGINS!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the ceremony is finished, please ensure you follow the <strong>recessional<\/strong> lines out of the auditorium to the <strong>gown drop off<\/strong> location. You <strong>MUST<\/strong> drop off your gown <strong>BEFORE<\/strong> you leave &#8211; you will meet your parents AFTER drop off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PARENTS:<\/strong><br>There is a fair amount of parking spread out around the Auditorium, but we do encourage you to carpool as much as possible. Be prepared to walk a few minutes.<br>Make sure that you park in designated areas only (\u201cno parking\u201d areas are clearly marked and will be enforced).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Seating<\/strong> in the auditorium\/balcony is <strong>NOT <\/strong>assigned \u2013 once the doors open, you may sit anywhere <strong>EXCEPT<\/strong> in the marked seats.
