DESCRIPTION:Fraser Health is offering Human Papillomavirus (HPV) immunization at all schools in our region to all eligible students in grade 6-12 during the 2024/25 school year.  \nOur school’s clinic will be held on February 13\, 2025.  A follow up time is scheduled for Tuesday\, March 4 for any students who are away for the initial date. \nPlease see the brief message below from Fraser Health on the benefits of HPV immunization. \nHPV immunization protects against several cancers and works best when given in early adolescence.  Getting immunized prepares the immune system to prevent infection. Since introducing HPV immunization\, there has been a significant decrease in HPV infections that cause cancer. \nStudents eligible for the HPV vaccine will receive a letter letting them know they are eligible to receive the HPV vaccine and any other immunizations they are due for. \nVisit www.fraserhealth.ca/hpv to learn more.

DESCRIPTION:Due to recent snowfall we are offering a pop up trip to Seymour next week. \nA small group of students in the Ski and Snowboard Club are invited to Mount Seymour on Thursday\, February 13th. The next day is a pro d day (Friday\, February 14). \nWe will depart SRT at 2:45 pm and travel together in the SRT school van. Students can ski/ride from 4:30-8:30 pm before departing Seymour and returning to SRT for 10:00 pm. \nThe students must have their own gear (skis/board and mandatory helmet) and bring it to SRT in the morning. \nAccepting this waiver is also an acceptance to Mount Seymour’s liability as passes will be bought on behalf of students. \nThis trip is limited to the first 7 students who sign up\, as we have limited space in the van with gear and are taking advantage of the Rideshare initiative they have at the mountain that night.

DESCRIPTION:Students in Ms. Ryall’s Law 12 classes (Blocks C & D) will be visiting the Provincial and Supreme Law Courts in Vancouver on Monday\, February 24\, 2025. We will leave SRT at 8:00-8:15 am by bus and return to SRT at approximately 3:45 pm. Students will receive an introduction to the Law Courts / Courts System\, go court watching as well as meet with a Judge and a Sheriff. This visit provides a great opportunity to see “law in action” and ask questions of legal professionals. \nField Trip Regular Activities: 8:00 am Students arrive at SRT (Students may bring breakfast or snacks with them on the bus) 8:15 am Depart SRT 9:45 am Arrive at the Provincial Courts in Vancouver 10:15 – 12:00 Attend court sessions at the Provincial and Supreme Courts 12:00 pm Participate in a Q & A session with a Provincial or Supreme Court Judge 1:00 – 2:00 pm Have lunch in Vancouver (in groups of no less than 3 students) 2:30 pm Depart from Vancouver Courts 3:45 pm Arrive back at SRT
