DESCRIPTION:We have arranged this fieldtrip for students in Grade 10-12 to enhance the BC School Curriculum. \nWe will be leaving on November 7\, 2024 in the afternoon at approximately 2:00 pm from the school to YVR via charter bus and arriving at the field trip site (Hawaii) at approximately 10:30 pm. \nWe will depart from Hawaii on November 14\, 2024 at approximately 11:30 pm and return to school via charter bus at approximately 10:30 am November 15\, 2024. \nWe will be travelling by passenger vehicles (rental 7-passenger minivans) These vans require class 5 licences which will be driven by teachers and school administrator \nOur activities on the field trip will include: tours of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (including the Halemaumau crater)\, the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (at 13\,700 feet elevation\, with Canadian astronomers)\, the Kona coral reef (on board the Atlantis submarine\, made in Vancouver)\, the tropical rain forest at Akaka Falls and Waipio Valley\, the Tsunami Memorial at Laupahoehoe\, Kahalu’u Beach (snorkeling)\, Punalu’u Beach (visiting sea turtles)\, Hapuna Beach (bodysurfing)\, and the Hilton Waikoloa Resort (including Dolphin Quest\, swimming with dolphins). Students will need to bring sunscreen\, sunglasses\, water bottle\, hat\, sweat pants\, walking shorts\, windbreaker\, swimsuit\, and comfortable walking shoes.
