SUMMARY:Sr. Backcountry Camping Trip – Golden Ears Park
DESCRIPTION:Location: Hikers Beach\, Golden Ears Provincial ParkParticipants: Up to 16 senior students \nTrip Overview:Join us for an overnight backcountry camping experience in the beautiful Golden Ears Park. We will leave from SRT at 3:00 PM on Monday\, September 29\, and drive to the East Canyon Parking Lot. From there\, students will hike with their gear along the East Canyon Trail to Hikers Beach on the banks of Gold Creek. Return time to SRT will be 12:30 PM on Tuesday\, September 30. \nPlease Note: \n\n\nThis is a fully pack-in/pack-out trip. All gear\, food\, and garbage must be carried in and out by each student. \n\n\nThere are no amenities or tables at the campsite. \n\n\nThe outhouse is located across the creek from the campsite. \n\n\nStudents are responsible for bringing their own food (dinner\, breakfast\, snacks). \n\n\nThis is a unique opportunity to challenge yourself\, connect with nature\, and reflect meaningfully on Truth and Reconciliation Day. \nEssentials (Required) – Outdoors Club has much gear to loan out.\n\n\n⛺ Backpack (large enough to carry all gear\, including food) \n\n\n🛌 Sleeping bag (suitable for cold overnight temperatures) \n\n\n🛏️ Sleeping pad (insulated preferred) \n\n\n🏕️ Tent or shared shelter (coordinate with partners if sharing) \n\n\n👟 Hiking boots or trail shoes (already broken in) \n\n\n🧦 Wool or synthetic socks (2 pairs minimum) \n\n\n👕 Base layers (non-cotton shirt and pants) \n\n\n🧥 Insulating layer (fleece or puffy jacket) \n\n\n🧢 Warm hat and gloves \n\n\n🧥 Waterproof jacket and pants \n\n\n🩳 Change of clothes (for sleeping) \n\n\n🍱 Food for dinner\, breakfast\, and snacks \n\n\n💧 Water bottle(s) – minimum 2L total \n\n\n🚰 Water purification (tablets\, filter\, or UV) \n\n\n🔦 Headlamp or flashlight (+ extra batteries) \n\n\n🔪 Pocket knife or multi-tool (optional but useful) \n\n\n🥣 Mess kit (bowl\, cup\, utensils) \n\n\n🧻 Toilet paper in a ziplock bag \n\n\n🧴 Toothbrush + small toothpaste \n\n\n🗑️ Garbage bag or ziplock for all waste \n\n\n🧼 Biodegradable soap (optional\, small bottle) \n\n\n🩹 Personal first aid supplies (band-aids\, meds\, etc.)
