{"id":11531,"date":"2025-06-23T10:10:33","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T17:10:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/secondary.sd42.ca\/pmss\/?p=11531"},"modified":"2025-06-23T10:10:33","modified_gmt":"2025-06-23T17:10:33","slug":"registration-for-school-district-transportation-for-the-2025-2026-school-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/secondary.sd42.ca\/pmss\/registration-for-school-district-transportation-for-the-2025-2026-school-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Registration for School District Transportation for the 2025\/2026 school year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Parents\/Guardians:<\/p>\n<p>This is a reminder that registration for students eligible for <strong>school district transportation<\/strong> for the 2025\/26 school year is open until\u00a0<strong>4:00 pm<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>on<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>June 27, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Regular\u00a0student\u00a0transportation\u00a0is available for eligible\u00a0students\u00a0living and attending\u00a0school\u00a0in the following\u00a0school\u00a0catchments:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Blue Mountain Elementary<\/li>\n<li>Garibaldi Secondary (who are not residing in Silver Valley \/ Rockridge area*)<\/li>\n<li>Highland Park Elementary<\/li>\n<li>Pitt Meadows Secondary<\/li>\n<li>Webster\u2019s Corners Elementary<\/li>\n<li>Whonnock Elementary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>* As part of the 2025\/26 budget approved on April 30, 2025, the Board of Education discontinued the bus routes serving Garibaldi Secondary students in the Silver Valley and Rockridge areas due to financial pressures, low ridership, and the availability of public transit alternatives. To support the anticipated increase in student use of public transit, the school district has worked with Coast Mountain Bus Company to enhance service. Coast Mountain has confirmed there is sufficient capacity on routes 741, 733, and 701, with additional afternoon trips being added on routes 741 and 733. Transfer times at Haney Place will be coordinated to support student connections, and ridership will be monitored to determine if further adjustments are needed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Eligible students for regular student transportation are defined as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Resident primary students (grades K-3) and their siblings attending the same school who live\u00a0farther than 4 kilometers from their catchment area school;<\/li>\n<li>All other resident students (grades 4-12) who live\u00a0farther than 4.8 kilometers from their catchment area school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Eligibility for\u00a0transportation\u00a0for\u00a0students\u00a0with disabilities and diverse abilities is based on criteria set out in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sd42.ca\/assets\/media\/5400-Student-Transportation-Provided-by-the-Board.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Policy 5400<\/a>\u00a0on the\u00a0school\u00a0district website.<\/p>\n<p>To register for regular\u00a0student\u00a0transportation\u00a0or\u00a0transportation\u00a0for\u00a0students\u00a0with disabilities or diverse abilities, please click on the announcement titled\u00a0<em>Student\u00a0Transportation\u00a02025\/2026 \u2013 Registration<\/em>.\u00a0The registration deadline is\u00a0<strong>4 p.m.,\u00a0June 27, 2025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>For instructions on how to register for student transportation on the Parent Portal, please see the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sd42.ca\/assets\/media\/Parent-Portal-Student-Transportation-Registration-Step-By-Step-Guide-2025-26.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Step-by-Step Registration Guide<\/a>.
