The revised notification system follows provincial recommendations and covers the six following scenarios:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drop, Cover, and Hold<\/strong> \u2013 Used in the event of an earthquake, explosion, or any event that shakes the school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hold and Secure<\/strong> \u2013 Used when there is a security concern, such as a police incident, in the neighbourhood of the school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lockdown<\/strong> \u2013 Used to prevent intruders from entering occupied areas of the school, or in times when it is necessary to isolate students and staff from a danger outside or within the building.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shelter in Place<\/strong> \u2013 Used as a short-term measure to protect students and staff from potential dangers outside the school (e.g. environmental weather-related emergencies, dangerous wild animals on school grounds, or a missing child).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Room Clear<\/strong> \u2013 Used to move people away from a hazard contained in one room\/area.<\/p>\n<p>Learn more about our revised <em>School Safety Notification System<\/em> at <a href=\"https:\/\/secondary.sd42.ca\/mrss\/school-safety-notification-system\/\">https:\/\/secondary.sd42.ca\/mrss\/school-safety-notification-system\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Maple Ridge \u2013 Pitt Meadows School District has updated its School Safety Notification System in collaboration with the Ridge Meadows RCMP.
