While we practice our drill, I\u2019d like you to take this drill seriously. We live in the Pacific Rim of Fire, a huge area in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ocean_basin\">basin<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pacific_Ocean\">Pacific Ocean<\/a>\u00a0where many\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Earthquake\">earthquakes<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Types_of_volcanic_eruptions\">volcanic eruptions<\/a> occur. Approximately 400 earthquakes occur each year in the region extending from the north end of Vancouver Island to Seattle. In fact 90% of the world&#8217;s earthquakes and about 81% of the world&#8217;s largest earthquakes occur along the Ring of Fire.
