If students attempt to register in more than one school, the system will default back to their catchment school.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”When does registration begin?” el_id=”1492706023527-dbb715d7-10c1″]Registration opens at 12 pm (noon) on\u00a0Tuesday, February 4, 2020<\/strong>. All Grade 8 registrations are done through the Parent Portal at\u00a0https:\/\/parents.sd42.ca<\/a>. Each registration is time-stamped at the moment the registration form is opened to begin the online registration process.<\/p>\n

Deadline for Grade 8 online registration is\u00a012 pm (noon)<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a0February 19, 2020<\/strong>. If you do not register your child by the online registration deadline, you will need to complete a paper registration form at your child\u2019s catchment high school.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”I’m new to School District No. 42 – How do I register?” el_id=”1492706087371-adc36dca-6eac”]February Registration for the Next School Year:
\n<\/strong><\/span>Parents of Grade 7 students currently NOT registered in the Maple Ridge \u2013 Pitt Meadows school district must obtain Grade 8 registration forms from the District Education Office at 22225 Brown Avenue, Maple Ridge. Registration forms will be available starting\u00a0February 4, 2020 at 12:00 pm (noon)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You will need the following documents to complete the application process:<\/p>\n

  1. Proof of residency (2 documents)<\/li>\n
  2. Student\u2019s birth certificate or passport<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Registration deadline is\u00a012:00 pm (noon), February 19, 2020.<\/strong>\u00a0Parents will be notified by email before Spring Break about their child\u2019s assigned school.<\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/span>[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”I don’t have access to a computer, how do I register?” el_id=”1492711401445-d4ec907e-b708″]Families who do not have access to a computer at home can request access at their elementary school or from the District Education Office.<\/span>[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What if I don’t live in the catchment?” el_id=”1492706086956-13fe38ec-de2a”]<\/p>\n

    Online Registration Process:<\/strong>
    \nThe registration form will automatically populate with your child\u2019s secondary catchment school based on the residential address on file with your child\u2019s elementary school.<\/p>\n

    Parents have the option to request a cross boundary school but there are no guarantees. You can also find your child\u2019s secondary catchment school using the school locator tool at http:\/\/www.sd42.ca\/school-locator\/<\/a>.\u00a0New development areas may not show accurate results. Please confirm with your child\u2019s elementary school if necessary.<\/p>\n

    If the address you register on the portal does not match what is on file, proof of change of address will be required. Rental agreements are not accepted as proof of address.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

    [\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What is the Acceptance Criteria for Prioritizing Placement?” el_id=”1492709414226-639bda06-b9e2″]The size of the school facility may limit the number of out-of-catchment registrations that can be accommodated. The school district will accommodate\u00a0catchment registrations<\/strong>\u00a0first, then attempt to accommodate\u00a0sibling out-of-catchment registrations<\/strong>. Sibling placement cannot be guaranteed, however. Our acceptance criteria are as follows:<\/p>\n

    1. In-catchment area students who, in the previous year, attended the school;<\/li>\n
    2. In-catchment area students who, in the previous year, were placed by the district in a different school due to a lack of space<\/li>\n
    3. Siblings of in-catchment area students (grades 8 to 11);<\/li>\n
    4. New in-catchment area students;<\/li>\n
    5. Siblings of out-of-catchment area students enrolled in the school (grades 8 to 11);<\/li>\n
    6. Out-of-catchment area students currently attending an SD42 school;<\/li>\n
    7. Out-of-district students currently attending an SD42 school;<\/li>\n
    8. Students not currently attending an SD42 school but residing in Maple Ridge or Pitt Meadows;<\/li>\n
    9. Out-of-district non-resident students.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Movement between schools after the\u00a0February 19<\/strong>\u00a0deadline requires a transfer process. Transfer forms are available at all secondary schools.<\/p>\n

      • The ability to transfer will be limited by building space and available staffing. See Student Transfer Guidelines.<\/em><\/li>\n
      • A review of transfer requests will be completed before the Grade 7 orientation date in May. Individual meetings and\/or visits will occur after placement.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
