{"id":396,"date":"2022-09-08T19:48:34","date_gmt":"2022-09-09T02:48:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/secondary.sd42.ca\/gss\/?page_id=396"},"modified":"2026-03-11T19:06:54","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T02:06:54","slug":"parent-advisory-council","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/secondary.sd42.ca\/gss\/parent-advisory-council\/","title":{"rendered":"Parent Advisory Council &#8211; General Meetings"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<div class=\"wp-block-file\"><b>General meetings of the GSS PAC typically occur every other month in the GSS Library at 7pm.\u00a0 Dates for the 2025\/2026 School year are<\/b>::\u00a0<\/div>\r\n<div>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>September 10<sup>th<\/sup>, 2025<\/li>\r\n<li>November 12<sup>th<\/sup>, 2025<\/li>\r\n<li>January 14<sup>th<\/sup>, 2026<\/li>\r\n<li>March 11<sup>th<\/sup>, 2026<\/li>\r\n<li>May 13<sup>th<\/sup>, 2026<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/div>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<blockquote>General meetings are open to all parents\/guardians\/primary caregivers of a student registered at GSS.\u00a0 ALL parents\/guardians\/primary caregivers of registered students are automatically <a title=\"https:\/\/www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca\/civix\/document\/id\/complete\/statreg\/96412_02#division_d2e2010\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bclaws.gov.bc.ca\/civix\/document\/id\/complete\/statreg\/96412_02#division_d2e2010\">PAC Members<\/a> at student registration and are encouraged to attend,\u00a0but attendance at meetings is not a requirement to be a Member.\u00a0 Decisions at these meetings are made by majority vote of those present according to our <a title=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1BpsQWf3diEqBAtzCtoF1v7i3izd3ox5c\/view?usp=sharing\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1BpsQWf3diEqBAtzCtoF1v7i3izd3ox5c\/view?usp=sharing\">Constitution &amp; Bylaws<\/a>. The Elected Officers are stewards of the Council with roles and responsibilities within the Membership; the Executive is <u>NOT<\/u> &#8220;The PAC&#8221;.<\/blockquote>\r\n<blockquote>PAC meetings typically include a presentation from a School Program or Department to inform parents about learning initiatives and activities happening within the School. The meeting also features reports from the School Principal, PAC Treasurer, and the DPAC (<a title=\"https:\/\/sd42dpac.wpcomstaging.com\/\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/sd42dpac.wpcomstaging.com\/\">District Parent Advisory Council<\/a>) Representative, providing updates on school operations, finances, and district-level discussions.\u00a0\u00a0These meetings also serve as a forum for parents to ask general questions, share concerns, and provide input or ideas related to the PAC, the school, and public education that may improve opportunities and learning outcomes for students.<\/blockquote>\r\n<blockquote>Decision-making items may include matters related to the PAC&#8217;s self-governance, allocations or disbursements from <a title=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/sports-culture\/gambling-fundraising\/gaming-grants\/pac-dpac-grants\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/sports-culture\/gambling-fundraising\/gaming-grants\/pac-dpac-grants\">PAC Community Gaming Grant funds<\/a>, other PAC fundraising initiatives, and school projects or initiatives that require PAC Membership approval or support.\u00a0 These are open\u00a0for discussion and decided by majority vote under the framework of Robert&#8217;s Rules of Order.<\/blockquote>\r\n<blockquote>\r\n<div>The Council can also support parents by helping them navigate and understand\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/www.sd42.ca\/board-of-education\/policy-manual\/\" contenteditable=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sd42.ca\/board-of-education\/policy-manual\/\">School &amp;
