Garibaldi Secondary is proud to offer the Interdisciplinary Arts Academy (IAA). For students wanting to pursue an arts focus for their high school experience, students take a variety of arts courses to create an interdisciplinary program.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This is an off-timetable program. Our current season runs September through December. Next year, 2025 we will be running September to show in February 2026.<\/p>\r\n

Courses include:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

IA Theatre Production\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In this course, students learn area specific techniques and vocabulary while gaining \u2018on the job experience\u2019 for production departments such as lighting, sound, stage management, hair & makeup, running crew, set construction, and front of house.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

IA Theatre Company<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In this course, students develop ensemble building, organization, time management, problem solving and communication skills through practical experience of producing a live show.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

IA Musical Theatre<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In this course, students go through the process of auditions, rehearsals, tech week, dress rehearsal, and shows. Throughout this creative process, students develop vocabulary and techniques of putting on a musical theatre production.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

IA Choreography<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In this course, students develop kinaesthetic and spatial awareness as they learn how to effectively study, rehearse, notate, and perform various styles and techniques of musical theatre choreography.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

IA Contemporary Music<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In this course, students study musical elements, vocal techniques, and get practical experience of performing musical theatre songs.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

*Successful interview\/audition required to register in any IA courses. Auditions will be held in April.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
